How come the question asks for a North American ski town, but there are no Canadian towns on the list? Revelstoke, British Columbia is my favourite ski town :)
December 9th, 2014 at 8:49 am
Thanks for your comment, Michelle…we can’t fit every rockin’ ski town on our poll do have Whistler on the list…I’ll add Revelstoke, too!
December 9th, 2014 at 2:34 pm
Also adding a Canadian ski town. Nelson, BC is my favourite. The locals are super friendly and helpful, there’s great food (home of the Whitewater cookbook), great coffee, and you can find some really easy backcountry access. Not to mention that the snow ROCKS!!

My fav town was not on the list… but in many ways I am not surprised … my fav ski town of all time is Silverton Co … one may think there is little there at first glance but once you experience the freedom of the San Jaun backcountry and the generosity of the community, you will not want to search for pow or a cold beer anywhere else:) Also there aren’t many girl shredders in town but those who are there are an incredibly inspiration!!!
December 10th, 2014 at 2:36 pm
Woo! Excited to see you added Revelstoke to the list. I’m going in February and could use a new pair of skis for the trip ;)

You gotta add the Adirondacks to the list! Not only are the resorts (Whiteface, Gore, Titus, etc) stellar there, but the backcountry is kickin’! So my vote is for the Lake Placid/High Peaks region. Gotta give a shout out to Holiday Valley in Buffalo too, where I learned! :-)
December 13th, 2014 at 10:28 pm

December 15th, 2014 at 12:03 pm
I learned to ski as a kid in Tahoe, glad to see they’re finally getting some more snow this year. The past couple of years have been tough for California’s snow pack :/

Skiing rules.

Mt. Lemmon, AZ. It might be the southernmost ski area in the US, there may be seasons when there is not enough snow to fire up the lifts, and many wouldn’t consider it a ski town. However Mt. Lemmon Ski Valley holds a special place in my heart. It was there I fell in love with the snow, learned to ski and sparked the flame inside me that made me a lifelong skier- one who lives to chase the powder!
December 15th, 2014 at 8:58 pm
Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico is the best! Great powder skiing with that local, laid back feel!
December 16th, 2014 at 9:41 am

January 8th, 2015 at 9:06 am
Park City! Sure it’s not the most affordable place in the world, but the snow and proximity to tons of resorts and backcountry is killer!
January 12th, 2015 at 5:58 pm
breck is my hometown, but CB is the second closest to my heart!
January 12th, 2015 at 6:06 pm
Big Sky Montana! I love skiing the cold smoke on my K2s!
January 13th, 2015 at 4:44 am
New England – may not always be the ‘best’ snow but there are tons of small, throwback ski areas to get it done at. The ice will keep you challenged! Powder Mt, in Utah is another favorite for good snow and terrain.
January 13th, 2015 at 8:12 am
my favorite ski area is Taos Ski Valley for its simplicity, amazing New Mexican food and the lightest powder around!
January 14th, 2015 at 12:57 pm
Revelstoke, BC is the greatest little ski town! Over 5k of vertical, and the town is entirely walkable. AH!
January 15th, 2015 at 11:10 am
