Margo Talbot is a survivor. In her critically acclaimed book, All That Glitters: A Climber’s Journey through Addiction and Depression, the now world-renowned ice climber shares her highly compelling story of rescue from the depths of drug addiction and crime. Her saving grace—ice climbing.

“The only thing that I had to hold on to that was captivating, that I was passionate about, was the sport of ice climbing,” says Talbot.

On the brink of suicidal depression in a jail cell, her rescue was to be found in the form of the lure of climbing frozen waterfalls. Today, this inspiring woman guides clients on their own healing journeys through one-on-one coaching and retreats, women’s empowerment groups, and a women’s adventure guiding company called The Glitter Girls. She is also the main contributor to the fourth edition of Waterfall Ice Climbs in the Canadian Rockies.

Here, we check in with Margo to learn more about her saving grace, her book’s message, and the one-ton ice block that came her way.
