If you’re like us, you’ve worn many ill-fitting, designed-for-men hydration packs over the years. We’ve tested this pack intensively over the past three months while hiking and mountain biking and we’re convinced that its unique German engineering offers a real feminine anatomical fit.

Jumping off from the idea that women’s backs are not as long as men’s, this 2.0-liter pack’s carry system is shorter than your average backpack. The waist and hip area is also shaped differently with a conical shape (achieved by angling the belt upwards and curving the belt wings). Honing in on the upper body, the Compact Air also has SL shoulder straps that are narrower and shorter in length. Can you say “extras?” We’re amply impressed with all the usable features packed into this hydration pack. We also loaded Deuter’s Streamer bladder ($29.95) into the pack’s convenient side-zip compartment and were pleasantly surprised with its performance. It has a construction that serves up clean-tasting water (even when we left it in the pack for a few days), an easy-open sliding clip wide mouth and a leak-free valve that comes equipped with a cover—no more dirt on our hydration nipple when we set our pack down on the ground.
