Erinn Morgan

Erinn Morgan

editor and founder

After a 10-year career as an award-winning New York City-based editor launching and redesigning urban, style-driven magazines, Erinn Morgan left her downtown Manhattan digs after September 11th, 2001, in search of a less encumbered, freelance lifestyle. A life-changing, two-year-long trek around the country in a motorhome eventually landed her in Durango, Colo., which she now calls home. Her writing has appeared in numerous publications, including The New York Times, Outside, National Geographic Adventure, Bike, Mountain Bike, Skiing, 5280, and on away.com and GearInstitute.com.

She was previously the editor-in-chief of 20/20 magazine, a special projects editor at Playboy (overseeing the launch of a new, custom magazine), and the founding editor/editor-in-chief of SoHo Style, a much-lauded, avant-garde magazine that covered the culture and style of downtown New York and its reach around the world. Erinn is also the author of the eco-focused book, Picture Yourself Going Green, a contributing editor to the award-winning Eyecare Business magazine, and a special projects editor producing custom content that has appeared in Vogue, ELLE, GQ, and Southwest Airlines’ Spirit magazine.

An obsessive mountain biker, Erinn also runs, Nordic skis, pines to be a better alpine skier, and loves to hit the floor for a good Shavasana.

Brigitte Baron

Brigitte Baron

publisher

While she is the quintessential New Yorker, Brigitte Baron is equally at home on powder-packed steeps as she is sipping cocktails at Balthazar. She also happens to have an impressive career in advertising sales, including her most recent gig as the director of media sales and partnerships at Totem Brand Stories, where she oversaw media sales for the British Airways brand as well as the Delta brand with their onboard magazine, Delta Sky. Additionally, she has managed custom publishing accounts such as Virgin Atlantic’s iPad magazine Project, and Acura Style magazine. She has also excelled as a sales development director at Backpacker and the northwest and northeast managers at National Geographic Adventure.

Kate Siber

Kate Siber

senior editor

Kate Siber has worked as a pastry cook, a small-time farmer, a ski-rental tech, and a thankless-accounting drone, among other distinctive vocations, but the career she tried on and kept was writing. For the last eight years, Siber, a freelance writer and correspondent for Outside magazine, has traipsed the globe in search of stories, shooting blowguns with Amazonian tribes in Ecuador, tracking rhinos in South Africa, and diving with sharks in Fiji, among other dubious endeavors. Along the way, her work has appeared in Outside, National Geographic Traveler, Budget Travel, The New York Times, The Boston Globe, and other publications. When stationary in Durango, Siber hikes, skis, runs, and backpacks. She is also a small-mammal owner, a pretty good cook, and a terrible (but enthusiastic) gardener.

Megan is a skier, a runner, a mountain biker, a reader, a chai-drinker, a listener, and a very bad knitter.

Allison Patillo

Allison Patillo

contributing writer

Allison lives in the mountains of Colorado with her husband, two daughters and three dogs. Her husband thinks she runs too much, her daughters pilfer her running shoes and Scout, the running dog, is certain they could log a few more miles. When Allison isn’t running or writing, she cycles, swims, skis and hops on a kayak or SUP at any possible chance. She is a senior contributing editor at Competitor, contributing writer for Women’s Running and GearInstitute.com, and her work has also appeared in Elevation Outdoors, Running Times online, Runner’s World online, and Trail Runner magazine.

Rachel Sturtz

Rachel Sturtz

contributing writer

Rachel Sturtz is a freelance writer and expat New York editor living in Denver, where she can finally test gear somewhere other than Central Park. When not covering health and fitness for mags like Women’s Health, Fitness, Shape, and Running Times, she travels to places like Moscow to write about surly ballerinas for Hemispheres and interviews celebs like Tom Colicchio about how to cook the perfect steak for Allure. Sturtz’s preferred activities make up the triathlon, but with a little snow mixed in, she gets an ‘A’ for effort as a Nordic skier and absolutely dominates green-circle alpine ski trails.

Jennifer Madara

Jennifer Madara

Kelly Bastone

Kelly Bastone

contributing writer

Once upon a time, contributor Kelly Bastone lived in the Big City of Denver, Colorado, where she visited the mountains as much as she could. Then she wised up and flipped the arrangement: Ten years ago, she moved to Steamboat Springs, where she skis (resort, skate, and backcountry), hikes, mountain bikes, fly-fishes–and occasionally ventures forth from her beautiful mountain valley to visit cities worldwide. A freelance writer, photographer, and Backpacker Magazine contributing editor, Bastone contributes to Sunset, Runner’s World, 5280 (Denver’s city magazine), Bicycling, National Parks, Mountain, and other publications.
